It occured to me while at the grocery store last night that October is our favorite little pink month to raise awareness for breast cancer. I saw a handful of women with pink hair ranging from the whole top of their head to just a tiny streak in their bang. These were all professional women in career attire. As a stylist who is a fan of candy colored locks, I was elated!
If you decide to jump on this pretty pink bandwagon, here are some ideas
1) Bonded extensions come in a vibrant pink color and save you from bleaching out your own strands. If you're only looking for a streak or two, relatively inexpensive as well!
2) Any salon should be able to apply pink color for you. Make sure you call ahead to make sure they have the color in stock.
3)For you DIY-ers, you are going to need a bleaching (lightening) kit and pink semi-permanent dye. I like special effects atomic pink, which is a darker fuschia pink better for darker hair. Cupcake pink by Special Effects is better for lighter hair. You are going to bleach out and rinse where you want the pink to go and then apply the dye after.
4) for you crazy ladies who like your carpet to match your drapes, there's dye for that as well. I like Fun Betty from bettybeauty.com.
Remember to do regular breast exams on yourself! Early detection is important. Go Pink!
