Cold Penguin Caps To Prevent Hair Loss From Chemotherapy

Usually I try to keep the theme of my posts pretty light, but my job is to also keep you friends informed.  A new revolution in the prevention of hair loss during chemotherapy is an innovation called the Penguin Cold Cap.  The idea is that the coldness slows circulation in the head, which in turn slows the chemo from reaching the hair follicles. The cap is popular in Europe and just started being available in the United States.

Basically, the cap is shaped like a winter hat with ice packs similar to those used for knee injuries.  The cap is left on for 30 minutes and swapped for another cap.  This is repeated for 7 hours on days of Chemo treatment. It is found to be 87% effective at preventing hair loss.  The price is 1500 dollars.

Remember the movie 'The Craft' when that snobby blond girl lost all her hair in the shower from that spell?  Let's leave the hair loss to the bitches that deserve it.  Those enduring treatments deserve to survive and deserve to keep their beautiful hair!
