At-Home Hairapy
Although beer and mayonnaise are excellent ways to condition your hair, it's just nasty. Mayo is for sandwiches. Beer is for drinking and bribing your guy friends to help you move or put down new floors. Here are a collaboration of helpful DIY solutions to real hair problems using stuff you probably already have (or can easily acquire) and won't make you smell like a cocktail waitress or potato salad.
Static hair- DRYER SHEETS! They work wonders!!! Plus if you have scented ones, you'll get happy whiffs of it all day long.
Gum stuck in the hair- doesn't just happen to children! I have been known to have it happen while blowing bubbles. Don't judge. The remedy is PEANUT BUTTER. Slap some on the gum, massage, and gently pull it off.
Ran out of conditioner- 2 cups boining water, 2 bags of GREEN TEA. Add some body spray or a couple squirts of perfume if you want. Brew and cool and pour over clean, damp hair. Rinse after 3 minutes.
Product buildup, hard water build-up, extreme greasy or dirty hair- mix your SHAMPOO with some BAKING SODA to form a paste. Use that paste to wash your hair- leave it on for a few minutes and rinse. *If you have colored hair, this may strip out some of the color*
Lice- Soak your hair and scalp in BABY OIL. Tie a bag over your hair or wear a shower/swimming cap. Leave on overnight. This will kill the lice. You will still need to use a fine tooth comb to get out the nits and of course wash/boil/lysol everything your head has touched since becoming infested. Use baking soda/shampoo mix to wash out the greasy baby oil.
Haircolor came out too red/black/purple- AVOCADO OIL. It can be found in the specialty food section or with cooking oils. It is a natural color stripper and will tone down/lighten up. You can use it right on dry hair. Massage it in and let it soak for 15-20 minutes and then wash with baking soda/shampoo mix.
Here are some non-hair uses for hair things you already own
Man trimmers/Bikini trimmers- great for shaving the lint off sweaters! Make sure you do it very carefully and gently on a flat surface.
Blow dryer- Blast some hot air on your eyelash curler before curling eyelashes. Voila! Perfectly curled!
